"Thank you for your feedback. I can't speak for the other members of Council, but I myself have expressed disfavor towards items like increasing intensity of usage, inappropriate development, and reduction of setbacks or lot size. I too question the proposed changes to the C1 zoning district. We likely agree on more than you realize.
I want to reassure you that this is just the first step in the rewrite of our land use code. The process involves receiving each section of suggested code changes for review by our community, including our residents, city staff, and city council. And this is where we each get our say whether to approve, disapprove, or modify. Nothing is set in stone yet, and your feedback is absolutely a part of this process. That being said, I acknowledge this process could have been better outlined, so that everyone understood what we are reviewing is just a draft which we can, and will, return for changes that respect Neptune Beach. I will resolve to do better next time.
If we work together, we can arrive at something which reflects our community's character while addressing the changing world around us. Thanks again for your input!
